For B2B companies without a marketing ops team

B2B Marketing Automation Platforms, Tools and Software for Small B2B Teams

Enterprise B2B platforms are lead nurture engines. They score and route the leads you already have, and they assume you have a CRM, a marketing ops hire, and a five-figure implementation. AutoMarketer reads your website and produces the demand itself: the content, ads, social, and email that get you onto a buyer's shortlist in the first place.

B2B marketing automation is software that runs a B2B company's marketing on schedules and triggers: content and SEO, paid campaigns, social, lead capture, and nurture email tied to a long, committee-driven buying cycle. The established platforms are priced for enterprises. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot) starts at $1,250 a month for 10,000 contacts and requires a connected Salesforce org, Adobe Marketo Engage is quote-only and commonly reported near $900 to $1,500 a month with a $10,000-plus implementation, and HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional is $800 a month on annual billing plus a required $3,000 onboarding fee. AutoMarketer takes the opposite approach: it writes and ships the SEO pages, ads, social posts, and pipeline email itself, on a flat plan from $49 a month, with no implementation project.

What you get

It creates demand, it does not just score it

Marketo, Account Engagement, and the rest of the enterprise tier are excellent at what happens after a form fill: scoring, routing, nurture tracks, attribution. None of them write the page that made the buyer find you. If your problem is an empty top of funnel rather than a messy middle, a scoring model does not fix it. AutoMarketer produces the content and campaigns that put you in the consideration set.

SEO pages for the research your buyers do alone

6sense's 2025 Buyer Experience Report found that 94 percent of B2B buying groups had already ranked their preferred vendors before contacting a seller, and the pre-engagement favorite went on to win about 80 percent of deals. That research happens in search and, increasingly, in AI assistants. Being the answer they find means having a real page for every problem, integration, and comparison a buyer types. That is continuous writing, which is exactly what does not get done.

No implementation project and no ops hire

Marketo partner implementations commonly run $10,000 to $50,000 and take months before a single email sends, and HubSpot requires a one-time $3,000 onboarding fee on Professional and $7,000 on Enterprise. Paste a URL here and you are reading drafted assets in about a minute. There is nothing to configure before the system produces work.

Pipeline email that actually gets written

Every B2B team can describe the sequences it should be sending: the follow-up after a demo that went quiet, the nurture for a lead who downloaded something and vanished, the win-back for a closed-lost account whose champion just changed jobs. Describing them is easy. Writing and maintaining them is the work nobody has time for. This drafts and schedules them.

Ads and social without an agency percentage

B2B clicks are expensive and B2B agencies typically take a retainer or a share of spend on top. On a flat plan the fee stops scaling with your budget, so more of it goes to media that reaches buying committees instead of to campaign management.

Review before publish, or full autopilot

B2B messaging has to be technically accurate, and a wrong claim about your own product costs you credibility with an evaluator. Approve every asset while you calibrate the positioning and the vocabulary, then move channels to autopilot once the output consistently sounds like your team wrote it.

How it works

01

Paste your company website URL

Your product or company site is enough. The AI reads it and builds a brand profile with what you sell, who you sell it to, and how your category talks, in about 30 seconds.

02

See the B2B marketing plan

Proposed SEO pages for the problems and comparisons your buyers search, ad concepts, social posts, and pipeline email, with sample assets you can read free and before creating an account.

03

Turn on the channels you need

Keep your CRM for deals and your sales tooling for outbound. Point AutoMarketer at the content, ads, social, and nurture email that neither of them produces.

04

Approve, then let it run

Review each asset in co-pilot mode until the technical voice is right, then move channels to autopilot so publishing continues through a quarter-end crunch.

Who it is for

B2B SaaS or services company with no marketing hire

A founder or a sales lead owns marketing on top of another full-time job. The blog stopped in 2024, the comparison pages were never written, and inbound is whatever referrals bring.

Quoted six figures for an enterprise platform

The Marketo or Account Engagement quote arrived with an implementation line item and an annual commitment, and nobody can explain what it does for a company that generates twelve leads a month.

Great CRM, empty top of funnel

Salesforce or HubSpot CRM tracks the pipeline perfectly. It can only track deals that exist, and the number of new ones entering has been flat for three quarters.

Outbound is carrying everything

Cold email and calls produce the pipeline, costs rise every quarter, and there is no owned inbound layer underneath to make those conversations easier or cheaper.

Long, committee-driven sales cycles

Five to eight people touch the decision over roughly ten months. Each of them researches independently, which means each of them needs something of yours to find.

There are two completely different products sold under the phrase "B2B marketing automation," and most of the frustration in this category comes from buying the wrong one.

The first is a lead management engine. Marketo Engage and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, still widely called Pardot, are the reference implementations. They take leads that already exist, score them, route them to sales, hold them in nurture tracks, and report on which touch influenced which opportunity. They are genuinely good at that, and the mid-market suites, HubSpot Marketing Hub and ActiveCampaign among them, do a lighter version of the same job. Every one of these tools begins with a lead already in the database.

The second is a demand production engine, and it is what most small B2B companies actually need. It is the thing that writes the page a buyer finds when they search for the problem you solve, the comparison page they read when they are choosing between you and an incumbent, the ad that reaches the two other people on the buying committee, and the follow-up email after a demo that went quiet. This is the layer that puts leads into the database in the first place. See what that looks like in practice in our B2B marketing automation examples.

Why the top of the funnel matters more in B2B than it used to

The evidence on this got hard to argue with in 2025. 6sense surveyed more than 4,000 B2B buyers for its Buyer Experience Report and found that 94 percent of buying groups had already ranked their preferred vendors before they made contact with any seller, and that the pre-engagement favorite won roughly 80 percent of the time. Separately, Gartner reported in June 2025 that 61 percent of B2B buyers now prefer a rep-free buying experience.

Read those together and the conclusion is uncomfortable for a sales-led company. By the time a lead reaches your CRM, most of the deciding has happened. It happened in search results, in comparison articles, in peer communities, and increasingly in AI assistants that summarize all of the above. A scoring model applied at that point is arriving very late. What determines whether you win is whether you existed, credibly and in detail, during the months of research that nobody on your team witnessed.

That is a content and visibility problem, not a workflow problem. And it is precisely the problem an enterprise marketing automation platform does not solve, because none of them write anything.

What B2B marketing automation platforms actually cost

The category is priced for companies with a marketing operations function, which is worth seeing plainly before you take a quote call.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement publishes its editions: Growth+ at $1,250 a month for 10,000 contacts, Plus+ at $2,750, Advanced+ at $4,400, and Premium+ at $15,000 for 75,000 contacts, billed per org rather than per seat. Common capabilities are add-ons on top: advanced dynamic content and advanced email analytics run $400 a month each, a dedicated IP is $500. It also requires a connected Salesforce org, so it is not a standalone stack.

Adobe Marketo Engage does not publish prices at all. Its four tiers, Growth, Select, Prime, and Ultimate, are quote-only and priced on database size. Aggregators commonly report Growth starting somewhere between $900 and $1,500 a month at around 10,000 contacts, though the spread between sources is wide enough that you should treat any specific figure as an estimate until Adobe quotes you. What is more consistently reported is the implementation: partner projects commonly land between $10,000 and $50,000 and take 60 to 120 days before the platform does useful work.

HubSpot Marketing Hub is the mid-market default. Starter is $20 per seat per month at list, frequently discounted on annual commitments. Professional, which is the first tier with real automation, is $800 a month on annual billing or $890 monthly, with a required one-time $3,000 onboarding fee. Enterprise is $3,600 a month with a required $7,000 onboarding fee. ActiveCampaign is the value option, roughly $15 a month for Starter and $49 for Plus at 1,000 contacts on annual billing, rising with contact count. Zoho Marketing Automation starts near $19 a month for 1,000 contacts.

Nothing here is a bad product. The question is what a twelve-person B2B company gets from a $1,250-a-month nurture engine when it generates a few dozen leads a quarter. The honest answer is usually a very well-organized version of a problem it does not have.

Where AutoMarketer fits

AutoMarketer produces the marketing rather than orchestrating it. Paste your company URL and the AI reads your public site to learn what you sell, who buys it, and how your category talks, then builds a brand profile in about 30 seconds. From that profile it plans and writes across four channels: SEO pages targeting the problems, integrations, and comparisons your buyers search, ad copy and creative, social posts, and pipeline email for demo follow-up, nurture, and win-back. You review each asset before it publishes, which matters when technical accuracy is the whole basis of your credibility with an evaluator, then move individual channels to autopilot once the output earns your trust. Pricing is flat from $49 a month, with no implementation project and no CRM license requirement.

It is not a replacement for a CRM, and it does not try to be a lead scoring engine. Keep Salesforce, HubSpot CRM, or Pipedrive for pipeline. If you already run Marketo or Account Engagement and they are working, keep them too: they will nurture leads better than this does. What AutoMarketer covers is the layer underneath, the continuous production of content and campaigns that makes a buyer aware of you during the ten months they spend deciding without you.

The fastest way to judge fit is to look at output rather than a feature list. Paste your site URL and read the SEO pages, ads, and pipeline email it drafts for your product and your buyer, free and before you create an account.

Frequently asked questions

What is B2B marketing automation?

B2B marketing automation is software that runs a business-to-business company's marketing on schedules and triggers instead of by hand. In practice that means publishing SEO content, running paid campaigns and social, capturing leads, and sending nurture email tuned to a long, committee-driven buying cycle. The category splits into demand production tools that create the leads and lead management platforms that score and route them.

What is the best B2B marketing automation platform?

It depends on which half of the problem you have. For deep nurture, scoring, and attribution inside a Salesforce shop, Account Engagement. For complex enterprise nurture, Marketo Engage. For one bundled mid-market suite, HubSpot Marketing Hub. If the real problem is that the content, ads, and email never get created in the first place, a production tool like AutoMarketer solves that from a flat $49-a-month plan.

How much does B2B marketing automation software cost?

The enterprise tier starts around $1,250 a month: that is Salesforce Account Engagement Growth+ at 10,000 contacts, and it requires a Salesforce org. Marketo Engage is quote-only and commonly reported near $900 to $1,500 a month plus a $10,000-plus implementation. HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional is $800 a month on annual billing plus a required $3,000 onboarding fee. ActiveCampaign starts near $15 a month and AutoMarketer is $49.

What are examples of B2B marketing automation?

The common ones are a lead magnet that triggers a nurture sequence, a demo request that routes to a rep and starts a reminder track, a comparison page that ranks for "your competitor alternative," retargeting ads aimed at accounts that visited pricing, a win-back email to closed-lost accounts, and a monthly SEO page for a problem your buyers search. Most teams can name all six and have shipped two.

How is B2B marketing automation different from B2C?

The buying group and the timeline. A B2C purchase is usually one person deciding in minutes, so automation optimizes for immediate conversion: cart recovery, browse triggers, discounts. A B2B purchase involves five to eight people over months, and 6sense found the average cycle ran about ten months in 2025. Automation therefore optimizes for staying credible and findable across a long research window rather than for closing today.

Do you need a CRM to use B2B marketing automation?

For most platforms, effectively yes. Salesforce Account Engagement formally requires a connected Salesforce org, and Marketo Engage is nearly always deployed alongside a CRM because scoring and routing have nowhere to send leads without one. Tools that produce marketing rather than manage leads do not have this dependency: AutoMarketer works from your website alone and needs no CRM license.
