Jasper costs less than Writesonic for one person: $69 a month for Jasper Pro against $99 for Writesonic Starter on monthly billing. From two people the comparison changes shape. Writesonic publishes a price for up to five users ($249 for two on Basic), while Jasper sells a second seat only through a custom Business plan with a 12 month commitment. They also sell different products now, which matters more than the price gap.

Both vendor pages were checked for this article, and every price below is in US dollars. Most of the comparison pages ranking for this question still quote Jasper Creator at $39 and Writesonic at $16 or $49. Neither plan is on sale today.

Writesonic shows its monthly rates inside its own pricing data as $99, $249 and $499, with the annual rates of $79, $199 and $399 shown on the page by default. Jasper shows $69 on monthly billing and $59 on yearly billing.

Is Writesonic cheaper than Jasper?

No, not for one person. Writesonic Starter costs $99 a month on monthly billing and Jasper Pro costs $69, so Jasper is $30 a month cheaper for a single user, or $20 a month cheaper on annual billing ($79 against $59). Writesonic becomes the only one of the two with a published price once a second person needs a login.

That second login is where most small teams get stuck. Jasper's own FAQ says that if you need more than one user, you contact sales to set up a Business plan. Business has no public price, starts with a 12 month commitment, and third party estimates for it disagree widely. Writesonic lets you add users at $50 each, up to five people across Basic and Growth.

What each one costs by team size

All figures use monthly billing so both vendors are on the same billing frequency.

People who need a login Writesonic Jasper AutoMarketer
1 $99 (Starter) $69 (Pro) $49 (Starter)
2 $249 (Basic) Business quote, 12 months $149 (Growth, 3 seats)
3 $299 (Basic plus 1 user) Business quote $149 (Growth)
5 $399 (Basic plus 3 users) Business quote $399 (Scale)
6 to 15 Enterprise quote Business quote $899 (Agency)

One detail in that table is easy to miss. Three users on Writesonic Basic with one added seat cost $299, while Growth, which includes three users, costs $499. Growth adds 25 more articles a month, more tracked prompts and sentiment analysis, so the extra $200 buys output and tracking, not seats. If seats are the only thing you need, Basic plus users is the cheaper path.

Writesonic cost per article

Writesonic publishes an article allowance, so you can work out what each AI article costs. Jasper does not cap words on Pro, so there is no equivalent number for it.

Writesonic plan Monthly billing AI articles a month Cost per article Annual rate per article
Starter $99 15 $6.60 $5.27
Basic $249 25 $9.96 $7.96
Growth $499 50 $9.98 $7.98
Growth add-on $100 20 more $5.00 $5.00

The cheapest article on Writesonic is on the smallest plan or in the Growth add-on pack. The middle and top tiers cost more per article because part of the price pays for AI search tracking. If articles are the only thing you want from Writesonic, Starter is the efficient plan, and a team that needs more volume should price the $100 add-on before upgrading a tier.

What changed at Writesonic, and why old reviews mislead

Writesonic is now sold as an AI search visibility platform first and a writer second. Its plans are organized around how many prompts and answers it tracks each day across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews (all nine platforms on Enterprise), plus site audits and a capped number of AI articles. The cheap word-based writing plans that older reviews compare with Jasper are gone.

So "Writesonic vs Jasper" is no longer two versions of the same tool. If you want to know where your brand shows up when buyers ask an AI assistant for a recommendation, Writesonic is selling that and Jasper is not. If you want a writer that holds a consistent brand voice across a team, Jasper is built for it and Writesonic treats writing as one feature among several.

Which is better for a marketing team?

Jasper is better for a team whose main job is writing on brand: it keeps Brand Voices, knowledge assets and Audiences that every draft draws from, and Pro has no published word cap. Writesonic is better for a team whose main question is visibility in AI search, with articles included as a capped extra. For two to five people, only Writesonic publishes a price.

There is a third kind of team this comparison does not serve well, and it is common in small companies: the team where nobody has time to decide what to write in the first place. Both tools still start from a person. Jasper starts from a prompt or a document. Writesonic starts from the prompts you choose to track and the articles you choose to generate.

AutoMarketer starts from your website. It reads what you sell and how you sound, builds a keyword plan, and drafts the SEO articles, social posts, email campaigns and ad copy into a review queue for your team to approve. You export the approved work and publish it from your own accounts, since it does not post or send for you. Growth gives three people a seat and 150 drafted assets a month for $149, month to month. You can see the plan and sample drafts for your own site before paying, using the demo on our AI content creation tools page.

When to pick each one

Pick Jasper if one person writes every day and wants a fast editor that holds a brand voice. At $59 a month on annual billing it is the cheaper of the two for a solo writer, and it is the better writer of the two.

Pick Writesonic if your leadership is asking how the brand appears in ChatGPT and Google AI answers. That tracking is the product, and nobody else in this comparison sells it. If what you really want is a running record of what competitors change on their websites, pricing and ads, a tool that tracks competitor price and page changes answers that more directly than an AI visibility dashboard.

Pick AutoMarketer if two to fifteen people need access, nobody owns the content calendar, and you would rather approve drafts than write prompts. The published seat prices are $49, $149, $399 and $899 a month.

Questions buyers ask before choosing

How much does Writesonic cost per month?

Writesonic costs $99 a month for Starter, $249 for Basic and $499 for Growth on monthly billing. Billed annually the same plans are $79, $199 and $399 a month. Enterprise is custom priced. Extra users cost $50 a user a month on Basic and Growth, up to five users in total.

How much does Jasper cost per month?

Jasper Pro costs $69 a seat a month on monthly billing or $59 a month billed yearly, which is $708 for the year. Pro includes one seat. Any team needing more than one user is directed to the Business plan, which is quoted by sales and starts with a 12 month commitment.

Does Writesonic have a free plan?

Writesonic does not list a permanent free plan. It offers a free trial on Starter, Basic and Growth, and the page says you can start without a credit card. Jasper offers a 7 day trial of Pro and no free plan either.

Is Jasper worth the price for a small team?

Jasper is worth it for one dedicated writer, where $59 to $69 a month buys a strong editor with brand controls. For a small team it is harder to justify, because the second seat moves you to a Business contract. Compare the Business quote against published team prices before signing a 12 month term. Our Jasper AI pricing page has the full breakdown.

What is a cheaper alternative to Jasper and Writesonic for a team?

For shared chat writing, Copy.ai Chat covers five seats for $29 a month. For planned and drafted marketing content, AutoMarketer Growth covers three seats for $149 a month and Agency covers fifteen for $899. See the Copy AI alternative comparison for what changes at six seats, or Jasper vs Copy.ai pricing for those two side by side.

The short version

For one person, Jasper is cheaper and is the better writer. For two to five people, Writesonic is the only one of the two with a price you can buy online, and what you are mostly paying for is AI search tracking. If what your team lacks is a plan and a steady flow of drafts rather than a writing tool, look at AutoMarketer pricing before signing an annual contract with either.
