Flodesk vs ConvertKit Pricing: Which Costs Less at Your List Size

Flodesk is cheaper than ConvertKit on every paid tier where both prices can be checked. At 1,000 subscribers billed monthly, Flodesk Pro is about $28 against Kit Creator at $39, and at 5,000 it is about $52 against $89. Kit wins only if you send broadcasts and nothing else, because its Free plan covers 10,000 subscribers.

That answer is the reverse of what most Flodesk vs ConvertKit comparisons still say, and two changes explain why. Flodesk retired its flat unlimited plan for new customers on 2 December 2025, so the old argument that Flodesk gets cheaper once your list passes 5,000 no longer applies to anyone signing up today. And in early September 2026 Kit (ConvertKit renamed itself Kit in 2024) removed automations and sequences from its free plan. Most of the comparisons ranking for this search were written before one or both.

Every figure below is monthly billing. Kit publishes its prices. Flodesk shows prices in an interactive slider, so its dollar figures come from pricing trackers and are marked as approximate.

Line up the plans that do the same job and the gap is consistent. Flodesk Pro and Kit Creator both give you 2 users, unlimited automation and your own branding. Flodesk costs about 28 percent less at 1,000 subscribers and about 42 percent less at 5,000. Annual billing does not change the order: Flodesk Pro is reported near $25 a month billed yearly at 1,000 subscribers, and Kit Creator is $33.

The cheapest plan for what you actually need

Price per subscriber is the wrong way into this decision, because both vendors push you up a tier for reasons that have nothing to do with list size. Flodesk gates plans on seats, branding and selling. Kit gates on automation and users. So start from the job.

The row that surprises people is the welcome sequence. A year ago Kit gave you one sequence free. Now even a single automated welcome email moves you to Creator, and Flodesk Lite, with its one workflow, does that job for about $14 a month less. The catch on Lite is the Flodesk promotion in the footer of every email. For a professional business that usually rules it out, and Pro removes it for roughly $3 more.

Why "Flodesk is cheaper past 5,000 subscribers" is out of date

For five years Flodesk charged one flat monthly fee no matter how large your list was, widely quoted at $38 and often promoted at $19. That made the old math easy: Flodesk cost more for a tiny list and less for a big one, and every comparison said so. The flat plan closed to new customers on 2 December 2025. Existing members reportedly kept their rate, with no public commitment to honor it forever.

Every Flodesk plan is now metered by active subscribers, just like Kit. The comparison did not flip, it just stopped being a flat line against a rising one. What happens above 5,000 subscribers?

Kit keeps publishing clean numbers: Creator is $139 at 10,000 subscribers and $199 at 25,000, and Pro is $189 and $279. Flodesk is where the evidence gets thin. The trackers that agree cell for cell up to 5,000 split apart above it. At 10,000 subscribers one reports Flodesk Everything at $99 a month and another at $126. At 25,000 it is $177 against $236.

We are not going to pick one and pretend it is the price. Does Flodesk or Kit charge for unsubscribed subscribers?

Neither does. Flodesk bills active subscribers and excludes people who unsubscribed, hard bounced or marked you as spam. Kit bills confirmed subscribers and excludes unsubscribes and duplicates. That puts both ahead of Mailchimp, which counts unsubscribed contacts until you archive them, and it means list cleaning lowers your bill on both platforms by the same logic. Is Flodesk free? Is ConvertKit free?

Kit is, within limits: the Free plan holds 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts, forms, landing pages and digital product sales, and no automations or sequences. Flodesk lists a free plan with forms, landing pages and segmentation, but sources disagree on whether it can send campaigns at all, so treat it as a place to collect subscribers rather than a way to email them.

Both paid plans come with a 14 day trial. Kit says no credit card is required. Flodesk trials are reported to require a card.

Which should you choose?

Choose Kit if you send a newsletter with no automation and your list is under 10,000. The Free plan covers you, and Flodesk has nothing comparable at $0. Choose Kit Pro if more than three people need logins, or if subscribers are the product and you want the referral system and engagement scoring.
