ConvertKit Pricing 2026: Kit Email Pricing, Free Plan Limits and ConvertKit Cost by Subscriber Count
ConvertKit is now Kit, its Creator Pro plan is now labeled Pro, and the free Newsletter plan became a Free plan with no automations at all. Three renames in two years, one of them in September 2026. Here is what Kit costs today and what actually pushes you onto a paid plan.
Start with your website
Free, no account and no card. Real assets in a couple of minutes.
What gets written
ConvertKit, now called Kit, costs $39 a month for Creator and $79 a month for Pro at 1,000 subscribers on monthly billing, or $33 and $66 a month billed yearly ($390 and $790 a year). Creator rises to $89 at 5,000 subscribers and $139 at 10,000. The Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts, but since early September 2026 it includes no visual automations and no email sequences, so a welcome series now requires Creator. Kit bills only confirmed subscribers. Creator includes 2 users and Pro includes unlimited users. AutoMarketer does not send email and does not replace Kit. It writes the campaigns and sequences you load into Kit, plus your SEO, social and ad copy, on flat plans from $49 a month.
What you get
The Free plan stopped automating anything
Until the end of summer 2026 the free Newsletter plan came with one email sequence and one basic visual automation, which was enough for a welcome email. The renamed Free plan has neither. Visual automations, sequences, rules and RSS campaigns all moved behind Creator. Pricing guides written in August 2026 still describe the old allowance.
Your first automation costs more than your first 9,000 subscribers
On the Free plan you can hold 10,000 subscribers and send unlimited broadcasts for $0. The moment you want a single automated welcome email, you are on Creator at $39 a month for 1,000 subscribers. For most creators the upgrade trigger is no longer list growth. It is the first sequence.
Pro is bought for the third login
Creator includes 2 users. Pro includes unlimited users, plus engagement scoring, deliverability reporting and the newsletter referral system. A three person team pays the Pro premium even when nobody needs the analytics: $40 more a month at 1,000 subscribers and $50 more at 10,000.
Only confirmed subscribers are billed
Kit counts confirmed subscribers toward your tier. Unsubscribed people and duplicates do not count. That is a better rule than Mailchimp, which bills unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts until you archive them, so a Kit bill and a Mailchimp bill for the same list are not built on the same number.
Subscriber 10,001 is the expensive one
The Free plan covers 10,000 subscribers, and the Kit help center says you need a paid plan to keep sending past that. One tracker reports the next Creator tier at $169 a month. A broadcast only newsletter can go from $0 to about $2,000 a year on a single signup, so prune inactive subscribers before the list crosses the line.
Annual billing takes 17 percent off
Kit prices yearly plans at two months free: Creator at 1,000 subscribers is $390 a year instead of $468, and Pro is $790 instead of $948. That is a bigger discount than MailerLite offers, and it is worth taking once you know which tier your list will sit in for the next twelve months.
How it works
Count confirmed subscribers
Take your list, remove everyone who unsubscribed, bounced or never confirmed, and remove duplicates. That remainder is what Kit prices you on. On an older list it is often well below the row count in your export.
Decide whether you need any automation
If you only send broadcasts and stay under 10,000 subscribers, the Free plan covers you. If you need even one welcome email or course sequence, price Creator. If more than two people need a login, price Pro.
Paste your URL into the tool above
The demo reads your website, works out what you sell and who buys it, and drafts a welcome sequence and a month of campaigns so you can judge the writing before you pay anyone. No account and no card.
Approve, export, send from Kit
Everything lands in a review queue. You approve what you want, export it or copy it out, and load it into Kit as broadcasts or a sequence. AutoMarketer writes the emails. Kit sends them.
Who it is for
A newsletter that only sends broadcasts
One issue a week, no welcome series, under 10,000 subscribers. This is the one case where the Free plan is still a complete product, and paying for Creator buys you features you will not open.
A coach or course creator with a welcome sequence
You need a nurture sequence the day someone opts in. Since September 2026 that means Creator, at $39 a month for 1,000 subscribers or $89 at 5,000. Budget for it from day one instead of planning around a free allowance that no longer exists.
A small team of three or more
An owner, an assistant and a contractor all need to edit emails. Creator stops at 2 users, so the team is on Pro at $79 a month at 1,000 subscribers, and the analytics come along whether you use them or not.
A business whose emails never get written
Kit has a good editor and strong automation. None of it drafts the sequence or the newsletter for next week. If the blocker is the blank page rather than the send button, a cheaper plan does not fix it and a more expensive one does not either.
Kit plans at 1,000 subscribers, and what each one unlocks
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Users | Automations and sequences | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kit Free | $0 | $0 | 1 | None | Up to 10,000 subscribers, unlimited broadcasts, forms, landing pages, digital products |
| Kit Creator | $39 | $33 ($390 a year) | 2 | Unlimited | Remove Kit branding, integrations, RSS, A/B subject lines, SMS, Kit MCP |
| Kit Pro | $79 | $66 ($790 a year) | Unlimited | Unlimited | Engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, referral system, Facebook audiences |
| AutoMarketer Growth | $149 | $119 | 3 | Writes the sequences, does not send them | Email campaigns and sequences drafted, plus SEO, social and Google Ads copy |
How much does ConvertKit cost?
ConvertKit costs $39 a month on the Creator plan and $79 a month on the Pro plan for up to 1,000 subscribers, billed monthly. Billed yearly, the same plans are $33 and $66 a month, which Kit advertises as saving 17 percent, or two months free. Both prices climb with your confirmed subscriber count. The Free plan is $0 up to 10,000 subscribers but cannot run automations.
ConvertKit rebranded to Kit in late 2024, and most people still search the old name, so this page uses both. It is the same company, the same account and the same product. Here is the monthly ladder at the tiers the pricing trackers publish, with the premium Pro charges over Creator at each size.
| Subscribers | Creator monthly | Pro monthly | Pro premium | Pro multiple |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000 | $39 | $79 | $40 | 2.03x |
| Up to 3,000 | $59 | $99 | $40 | 1.68x |
| Up to 5,000 | $89 | $139 | $50 | 1.56x |
| Up to 10,000 | $139 | $189 | $50 | 1.36x |
| Up to 25,000 | $199 | $279 | $80 | 1.40x |
| Up to 55,000 | $379 | $519 | $140 | 1.37x |
| Up to 105,000 | $679 | $879 | $200 | 1.29x |
Two things fall out of that table. The dollar gap between Creator and Pro barely moves until 25,000 subscribers, so Pro gets relatively cheaper as you grow: double the price at 1,000, about a third more at 10,000. And the most expensive stretch of Creator, per extra subscriber, is between 3,000 and 5,000: $30 for 2,000 more people, or $15 per thousand. Above 10,000 the same thousand subscribers cost $4 to $6.
Is ConvertKit free?
Yes, Kit has a Free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers, with unlimited broadcasts, forms and landing pages. What changed is what it leaves out. Since early September 2026 the Free plan includes no visual automations and no email sequences, so anything that sends automatically, including a single welcome email, needs a paid plan.
This is the most important pricing change Kit has made since the 2025 price increase, and it is recent enough that most pricing articles still describe the old Newsletter plan, with one sequence and one basic automation. Here is the current split, taken from the Kit help center.
| Feature | Free plan | Creator and Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribers | Up to 10,000 | Priced by tier, no cap |
| Email broadcasts | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Forms and landing pages | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Tagging and segmentation | Included | Included |
| Digital products and paid subscriptions | Included | Included |
| A/B testing on broadcasts | Included | Included |
| Visual automations and templates | Not included | Unlimited |
| Email sequences | Not included | Unlimited |
| Rules and RSS campaigns | Not included | Included |
| Paid apps in the Kit App Store | Not included (free apps work) | Included |
| Kit branding removed | No | Yes |
| Support | Answered within 24 hours | 24/7 email and chat, priority on Pro |
Two details from the same help article matter if you are already a customer. If you downgrade from a paid plan to Free, your visual automations and sequences stay in the account but stop running, and they start again when you upgrade. And new Free accounts are enrolled in the Kit Creator Network automatically, so other creators can recommend your newsletter. You can switch that off.
What changed on the Kit Free plan in September 2026
The plan was renamed from Newsletter to Free, and automation was removed from it. Pricing trackers published in August 2026 list one email sequence and one visual automation on the free tier. The Kit help center article on the Free plan, as it read in the first week of September 2026, lists visual automations and email sequences under features that need a paid plan, and the Kit pricing page shows none on Free.
In practical terms, the free tier went from a small email marketing tool to a broadcast tool with a list attached. That is still generous. Ten thousand subscribers with unlimited sends is a larger free allowance than Mailchimp, MailerLite or Flodesk offer. But the use case it serves shrank. A writer who sends one newsletter a week and nothing else loses nothing. A coach whose whole funnel is a lead magnet and a five email nurture sequence now pays from the first subscriber.
How much is ConvertKit for 10,000 subscribers?
ConvertKit costs $139 a month on Creator and $189 a month on Pro for up to 10,000 subscribers, billed monthly. On the Free plan, 10,000 subscribers cost nothing if you only send broadcasts. The expensive moment is subscriber 10,001, which the help center says requires a paid plan to keep sending.
One pricing tracker reports the next Creator tier above 10,000 at $169 a month and the next Pro tier at $249. If that is right, a broadcast only newsletter that crosses 10,000 goes from $0 to $169 a month, or $2,028 a year, because of one signup. Nothing about the product you use changes at that moment. If your list is close to the line, clean it before it crosses. Removing a few hundred inactive subscribers is cheaper than a paid tier you only need because nobody pruned the list.
Kit Creator vs Pro: what the extra money buys
Pro adds unlimited users, Subscriber Signals and engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, an insights dashboard, collaborative editing, A/B testing of email content rather than only subject lines, Facebook custom audiences, a newsletter referral system and the ability to edit links in emails you already sent. Creator already includes unlimited automations and sequences, integrations, RSS, branding removal, SMS marketing and Kit MCP.
Most small businesses do not buy Pro for that list. They buy it because Creator stops at 2 users. The analytics are genuinely useful for a newsletter where subscribers are the product, and the referral program is the one Pro feature that can pay for itself on a growing publication. For a business sending a weekly email to customers, the user limit is usually the only line that matters, so decide how many people need to log in before comparing anything else.
Does Kit charge for unsubscribed subscribers?
No. Kit bills on confirmed subscribers, and its billing help article says unsubscribed and duplicate subscribers do not count toward your total. Kit also charges for the billing period ahead and prorates upgrades, so moving up a tier mid cycle produces a partial charge rather than a full month.
That rule makes Kit cheaper than its sticker price suggests against vendors that meter every stored record. Mailchimp counts subscribed, unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts until you archive them. A 6,000 row export with 1,000 unsubscribes is a 5,000 subscriber bill on Kit and a 6,000 contact bill on Mailchimp until someone archives the difference.
Kit pricing compared with MailerLite, Flodesk and Mailchimp
Kit is the most expensive of the four at 1,000 subscribers and by far the most generous for free. The table compares the plan most businesses buy once they need automations and their own branding, on monthly billing.
| Vendor and plan | 1,000 subscribers | 5,000 subscribers | Free plan | What it bills on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kit Creator | $39 | $89 | 10,000 subscribers, broadcasts only | Confirmed subscribers |
| MailerLite Comfort | $19 | $49 | 250 subscribers, 2,500 emails a month | Active subscribers, peak in cycle |
| Flodesk Pro | About $28 | About $52 | List building, sending disputed | Active subscribers |
| Mailchimp Standard | About $27 | $100 | 250 contacts, 500 emails a month | All contacts until archived |
The comparison flips depending on what you actually need. Broadcasts only, under 10,000 subscribers: Kit is $0 and nothing else is close. Automation plus your own branding at 1,000 subscribers: MailerLite at $19 costs half of Kit. At 5,000 subscribers Kit Creator at $89 is still above MailerLite and Flodesk but below Mailchimp Standard at $100. Full detail is on our MailerLite pricing breakdown, the Flodesk pricing page and the Mailchimp pricing guide, and the MailerLite vs ConvertKit pricing comparison runs both ladders side by side.
Is ConvertKit worth the price?
Kit is worth paying for when email is how you make money: a paid newsletter, a course business, digital products, a creator audience that buys directly from the list. The commerce tools, the Creator Network and the Pro referral system are built for that, and they are why the paid plans cost more than MailerLite. For a local business or a B2B firm sending a monthly update to customers, most of that premium buys creator features you will not use.
The price history is worth knowing too. Kit raised paid prices in the fall of 2025, lifting Creator at 1,000 subscribers from $29 to $39, roughly a 34 percent increase, and then took automations off the free tier a year later. Neither change was hidden, but together they mean almost every Kit price you read from before late 2025 is too low, and almost every description of the free plan from before September 2026 is too generous.
The part Kit does not do: write the emails
Every plan above automates delivery. None of them writes the welcome sequence, the launch emails or the newsletter for next week. Kit gives you an editor, templates, an AI subject line helper and a place to build flows, and you still open a blank draft and decide what to say. That is why so many accounts that pay for unlimited sequences run exactly one, written years ago.
AutoMarketer starts one step earlier. Paste your website URL, and it reads what you sell and who buys it, then drafts the emails: the welcome sequence, the campaign calendar, the re-engagement email for people who have gone quiet. You review and approve each one, export it, and load it into Kit as a sequence or broadcasts. It does not connect to Kit and it does not send anything. Email copy is included on the Growth plan at $149 a month, or $119 a month billed yearly, with SEO, social and Google Ads copy from the same brand profile. Starter at $49 a month covers SEO and social content only, so check the plan before you buy it for email.
If you already write your own emails and enjoy it, you do not need us, and Kit Free or Creator is the whole answer. If the sequence you are paying Kit to run has never been written, run your URL through the demo and read the drafts first. More on how the drafting works is on the AI email marketing page.
Frequently asked questions
How much does ConvertKit cost per month?
ConvertKit costs $39 a month for Creator and $79 a month for Pro at up to 1,000 subscribers on monthly billing. At 5,000 subscribers it is $89 and $139, and at 10,000 it is $139 and $189. Billed yearly, the 1,000 subscriber prices drop to $33 and $66 a month. The Free plan is $0 up to 10,000 subscribers.
Is ConvertKit free?
Kit has a Free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts, forms and landing pages. Since early September 2026 it includes no visual automations and no email sequences, so a welcome series or any automated email requires the Creator plan at $39 a month or more.
Is ConvertKit now called Kit?
Yes. ConvertKit rebranded to Kit in late 2024 and moved to kit.com. It is the same company, product and account, so ConvertKit pricing and Kit pricing mean the same thing. The top plan, long called Creator Pro, now appears simply as Pro on the Kit pricing page.
Does the Kit free plan include automations?
No, not anymore. The old free Newsletter plan included one email sequence and one basic visual automation. The renamed Free plan includes neither. Visual automations, email sequences, rules and RSS campaigns all require Creator or Pro. If you downgrade, existing automations stay in your account but stop running.
How much is ConvertKit for 10,000 subscribers?
ConvertKit is $139 a month on Creator and $189 a month on Pro for up to 10,000 subscribers, billed monthly. The Free plan also covers 10,000 subscribers if you only send broadcasts. Past 10,000 you must be on a paid plan to keep sending, and one tracker reports the next Creator tier at $169 a month.
What is the difference between Kit Creator and Pro?
Creator includes 2 users, unlimited automations and sequences, integrations and branding removal. Pro adds unlimited users, engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, an insights dashboard, content A/B tests, Facebook custom audiences and a newsletter referral system. Pro costs $40 more a month at 1,000 subscribers and $50 more at 10,000.
Does Kit charge for unsubscribed subscribers?
No. Kit bills on confirmed subscribers, and unsubscribed and duplicate subscribers do not count toward your tier. That differs from Mailchimp, which bills unsubscribed and non subscribed contacts until you archive them, so the same list can land in a lower tier on Kit.
Does ConvertKit have a free trial?
Yes. Creator and Pro both come with a 14 day free trial and the Kit pricing page says no credit card is required. If you start a trial and then switch to the Free plan, access to paid features ends immediately rather than at the end of the trial.
Is ConvertKit cheaper if you pay annually?
Yes. Annual billing saves 17 percent, which works out to two months free. At 1,000 subscribers Creator drops from $39 to $33 a month ($390 a year) and Pro from $79 to $66 a month ($790 a year). That is a larger annual discount than MailerLite, which takes about 10 percent off.
Is ConvertKit better than Mailchimp?
For creators selling to an audience, usually yes: Kit has a far larger free plan, bills only confirmed subscribers and bundles digital product sales. Mailchimp suits businesses that want more templates, ecommerce integrations and a cheaper entry tier. At 5,000 subscribers Kit Creator is $89 against $100 for Mailchimp Standard.
Is ConvertKit worth it for a small business?
It is worth it if email directly sells your products, courses or paid newsletter. For a small business sending a regular update to customers, MailerLite does the same job for about half the price at 1,000 subscribers. Either way, the tool sends the email. Somebody still has to write it.
Does AutoMarketer send emails through Kit?
No. AutoMarketer does not connect to Kit and does not send email. It drafts your welcome sequence, campaigns and re-engagement emails from your website, you approve them in a review queue, and you export and load them into Kit yourself. Email copy is on the Growth plan at $149 a month.
